This policy explains — in plain English — what information Monster Articles collects from people who visit the site, how we use it, and what choices you have about it. If anything here is unclear, please write to us at hello@monsterarticles.info and we will explain it differently.

The short version: we use a handful of standard web tools (Google Analytics, Google AdSense, MailerLite for the newsletter, and Web3Forms for the contact form) that each collect a small amount of information for their own purposes. We do not sell your data. We do not have a mailing list we share. We make a modest amount of money from ads and affiliate links, and that's it.

Who We Are

Monster Articles is a personal publication operated by Charles Carboneau, a CPA in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The site publishes AI-generated folklore fiction. You can reach the operator at hello@monsterarticles.info or through the Contact form on any page.

Information We Collect Automatically

When you visit the site, our analytics and advertising partners collect some information automatically through your browser. This is standard for nearly all websites.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the site. This tool sets cookies in your browser and collects information like: your approximate geographic location (city-level), the type of device and browser you use, which pages you visit, how long you stay, and where you came from (e.g., a search engine, social media, or direct). Google Analytics does not tell us your name, email address, or any personally identifying information.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On.

Google AdSense

We display ads on the site through Google AdSense. Google and its third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings or by visiting aboutads.info to opt out of personalized advertising from participating companies. Even if you opt out, you will still see ads — they will just not be personalized to your interests.

Server Logs

Our hosting provider (KnownHost) keeps standard server logs that record things like your IP address, the pages you request, and the time of the request. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting. They are not shared with third parties except where required by law.

Information You Give Us Voluntarily

The Friday Dispatch Newsletter

If you subscribe to our weekly newsletter, you voluntarily give us your email address. We use MailerLite to manage the subscriber list and send the newsletter. Your email is stored on MailerLite's servers, not ours. MailerLite has its own privacy policy that governs what they do with subscriber data.

We use your email only to send you the weekly dispatch. We do not sell, rent, or share it with anyone. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email, and your address will be removed from the list.

The Contact Form

If you use the "Contact the Curator" form to send us a message, you voluntarily provide your name, email address, topic, and message. This information is transmitted through Web3Forms, a form-handling service. Web3Forms processes the message and delivers it to our inbox at hello@monsterarticles.info. Web3Forms has its own privacy policy that governs how they process form submissions.

We use contact-form messages only to reply to you. We do not add you to any marketing list without your separate consent.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website can store in your browser. We and our partners use them for these purposes:

Your browser lets you control cookies through its settings. You can typically choose to block cookies, delete existing cookies, or be notified before cookies are set. Doing so may affect how some parts of the site work — for example, the newsletter signup form may not remember that you've already subscribed.

How We Protect Information

The site is hosted on a server with standard security measures including SSL/TLS encryption (your connection to the site uses HTTPS), current software patches, and access controls. However, no website is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of any information transmitted online.

We rely on Google, MailerLite, and Web3Forms to secure the information they collect. Each of those companies maintains their own security practices, which you can review in their respective privacy policies.

Children's Privacy

Monster Articles is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us at hello@monsterarticles.info and we will promptly delete it.

Your Rights (EU/UK/California Visitors)

Depending on where you live, you may have specific legal rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information). To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@monsterarticles.info and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time as the site evolves or as laws change. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be announced in the newsletter. We recommend reviewing this page occasionally if you have concerns about how your information is handled.
